Whatever your expertise or talent, Superior Public Museums offers many opportunities for you to get involved, meet new people, and have fun. Here are just a few of the activities and events where our dedicated volunteers make all the difference!
Working in Our Gift Shop
Volunteer Opportunities ~
- Fairlawn Gift Shop – Volunteers greet visitors and operate the cash register, answer incoming calls, and provide general information.
- Tour Guides – Tour guides at Fairlawn Mansion and the SS Meteor take groups of up to twenty visitors on 45-minute guided tours of the mansion or the whaleback ship. Must be able to climb multiple flights of stairs and be on your feet for several hours at a time, answer phone, and operate cash register.
- Old Firehouse & Police Museum site manager. Tours are free and self-guided; the volunteer site manager acts as host to visitors, answers phone, and operates cash register for sales of merchandise.
- Other Projects and Events – Events, collections, marketing, graphic design, research, genealogy, wood working, gardening, exhibits . . . and more.
If you are interested in volunteering for any of these activities, or if you have something else in mind that you think might fit our mission, contact us. We’d be happy to find just the right volunteer position for you.
Please call our museums administrator: Robert Quené for more information about volunteer opportunities.
